Our principal, Dr Lee Walsh, is an engineer, medical scientist, author and speaker who is internationally recognised in his fields.
With two decades of experience in research and development, and another in regulatory strategy, quality and commercialisation, Dr Walsh has established an international reputation for excellence and is regularly invited to speak. His work is published in highly ranked international journals, and systems he has designed and built are still in use around the world 15 years later.
Dr Walsh has contributed to medical device policy and regulation as well as Australian and international standards for medical devices, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
In science and engineering Dr Walsh specialises in measurement, instrumentation and data analysis for health and medical applications. In regulation, evaluation and commercialisation he works most frequently with medical devices, with a particular focus on digital and software technologies (include AI & ML), and research translation.
Dr Walsh also works in adjacent industries, where standards, regulations and management systems are required or expected.
He is known internationally for his work in the measurement of human physiology, psychophysics and human performance, as well as medical device commercialisation, testing and evaluation.
Dr Walsh is still a researcher, but also an athlete, technologist, maker and gamer. His recent research and development focused on solutions to optimise athletic performance in motor racing. His current focus is on the application of software and AI systems in the management of research and knowledge.
When he is not at work, Dr Walsh is probably gardening, training (martial arts), building something, or in a tabletop game.
Manon is a Regulatory Engineer and Scientist with a background in startup, innovation and small business.
Manon has 6 years of experience in quality assurance and product development in medical devices. She specialises in establishing quality management systems from scratch and shifting start-ups from a research to a production mindset. Her product experience has been focused on software-as-a-medical-device (SaMDs), particularly around medical imaging and cell therapies. With degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Science, Manon has a broad understanding of medical device applications.
Outside of work, Manon enjoys reading, knitting and yoga.
Prabha holds a double degree in Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry from Monash University, complemented by a Diploma in Business Administration.
In March 2019, she founded her own business specialising in business administration services.
Prabha joined Platypus MedTech Consulting in 2020 as Operations Manager where she supported the growth of the business and the streamlining of internal processes. In 2025, she joined their delivery team and now applies her operational expertise to help clients operate and improve their quality management systems.
Prabha loves reading, especially Golden Age detective fiction from the likes of Agatha Christie, Edmund Crispin, and Dorothy L. Sayers. She also loves animals, particularly dogs, and is involved with greyhound rescue.
